Artist Profile: Brook Weston's Rouge Taxidermy

Brook Weston's rouge taxidermy was easily the most anomalous booth at Designer Con this weekend. Her mixed media sculptures bring fairy tale scenes to life, where the brain and heart used to reside within deceased wildlife. This art isn't for everyone, but I hope we can all appreciate it's unconventional uniqueness. Here are a few shots of "Phantom Rose" from Brooke's Instagram.

Her work is detailed down to tiny fur shingles...If you're interested in learning more about the art and science behind taxidermy, I would suggest checking out San Diego's Precious Creatures small group classes. All materials are provided and students leave with the knowledge to create more pieces on their own at home.
